Before making a purchase, it's a good idea to check the seller's reputation within the group. You can usually search their name or click their profile picture to see all of their past posts. There are other groups where member often report feedback or review transactions where members can vouch for or warn others of scummy sellers. Don't hesitate to ask for references if you have any doubts.

5. Negotiate and Communicate:

When you find a listing that interests you, don't be afraid to negotiate the price, especially if the post has been up for a while with no engagement. Polite and clear communication is key. Ensure you know the condition of the diapers, any defects, and the final price, including shipping costs.

6. Secure Payment:

Use secure payment methods like PayPal Goods and Services or Venmo when making transactions. These platforms offer buyer protection, providing a safety net in case of any issues.

Selling Cloth Diapers:

1. Take High-Quality Photos:

If you're selling cloth diapers, take clear and detailed photos of each item. Highlight any flaws or wear and tear, as transparency builds trust with potential buyers. Clearly show the print, the inner lining, a top view showing the elastics condition, and flip any pockets inside out to show the water resistant lining is not damaged.

2. Write a Comprehensive Description:

Create a comprehensive description for your listing, including the brand, size, condition, and any specific features or accessories included. Be honest and upfront about the diapers' history and usage. Post an eye catching stash shot of everything you’re selling or maybe even a funny meme and let members follow your post to find out what will be for sale. Let it be known if there are any TM prints as that usually draws or detracts a certain crowd.

3. Set a Fair Price:

Research similar listings to gauge the market price for your cloth diapers. Consider their condition, brand, and any additional items you're including. Setting a fair price increases the chances of a successful sale. 80% for new is typical; 60-70% for excellent barely used or prepped only condition; 50%-60% for good condition; but all of this also varies from brand to brand and different styles, even specific prints have been known to often go for much more than retail.

Share your listings in cloth diaper buy-sell-trade groups or on your own social media accounts. Utilize appropriate hashtags and keywords to increase visibility. Make sure to follow group rules and guidelines for posting. Gauge the atmosphere of the group certain brands are primaily small shop or brand specific. If you find your self selling your starter stash from Amazon, sometimes the only place they sell is FB Marketplace or a local mom group.

2. Shipping:

Price for shipping heavily depends on the weight and overall size of the package. A kitchen scale would be handy to have and then you can input the potential seller’s zip code into Pirate Ship. Once the sell is official and paid you can integrate your PayPal account to Pirate Ship and create you shipping label. Print the label and tape it onto the package, copy and paste or transfer the tracking number to PayPal for the buyer.

3. Post Office:

Once you package is ready, you can simply drop it off at a local post office or often time local postal stores offer print and postal services and also accept packages to be picked up from their shop. Places like this will scan your package in and offer to give you a receipt to show they have received your item, always accept one just in case your buyer requests. If you want to skip steps one and two and find a local small shop like this you will definetly pay a premium price tp ship your package. This can be beneficial if you only plan to sell one time as a bundle or you just don’t think you’ll go through a whole pack of polymailers. single polymailers in these shops can cost upwards of $1 each verses the ones linked where you can get 100 mailers for less than $9-13.

4. Use Best Judgement:

If you find a local buyer, that’s great! Always be vigilant and plan to meet in a public place, take a friend, partner, or family member with you and avoid trying to bring your kids along if you can help it.

5. Negotiation:

If you’re selling on a platform other than facebook, be aware of any potentials fees and increase your asking price accordingly. Also, be sure to leave room for negotiation and do not be intimidated if you get a low offer. You are the seller and it is ultimately your decision who you sell to, you are free to counter any offer but once you’ve agreed on a price don’t backtrack.

6. Trades:

Trades are becoming less and less common but they do still happen. Make sure you back your trade for security purposes. You and the person you are trading should create PayPal Goods and Services request and pay each other an even amount or any additional differences that you have agreed upon.
